Tri Branch 200yrd Fly Competition 2024

Happy New Year all, and welcome to the 2024 Tri Branch 200 yrd Rimfire Postal Competition.
The leader board has been wiped clean and awaits the first scores from Jan 2024.

· Will we see some new shooters in the top spots this year?
· Will they be able to achieve the amazing Avg that Mitchell Calcutt achieved last year?
· Will they be able to rival the wind reading skills and consistency of Michael Truscott ?
· Will they venture out and test their skills at all 3 ranges throughout the year?
· Will they be able to Top Vincent Vaina's Christmas shirt “Pink Flying Pork on ya fork” Merry Christmas, happy New Year Uncle Vv…

SO, LET’S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!
Very first shoot this year will be Brisbane, 2nd Wed night of the month. Second shoot will be Gladstone on the Second Sat morning of the month and finally, it is Mackay’s turn on the 4th Saturday of the month.

Oh! almost forgot, of course there are some rules. Don’t get too hung-up on them… this is about having a little fun.

1. 200yrd Rimfire competition.
2. It is based on individuals scores, not a Branch against Branch score etc..
3. Shot in accordance with the National Rule book for Fly.
4. Each month the Highest score by a competitor shot at Mackay, Gladstone or Brisbane 200yrd Fly Branch match/ National Registered match will be entered.
5. Tied scores: Will be tied, a Count back system is not used. Shake hands, have a Beer together, and congratulate each other on achieving the same score.
6. The winner is decided on the top 8 scores they achieve through the year 2024 from shooting at any of the 3 branches above.
7. Prizes: This is for bragging rights only!

Good luck all!

Congratulations to John Mc Quire for taking out the June 2024 Tri Branch Postal Comp.

We are at the halfway point for 2024.

6 down, and 6 to go to get your top 8 scores registered for the year!

As it stands,
· 1st place, Mitchell Calcutt Holds a lead just… over Vincent Vaina.
· John Mc Quire holds 3rd place by and even slimer amount over Murray Cole.
· Vincent Vaina tops the Fly count by just 1 fly.
· Mitchell Calcutt holds the best group avg.
· Mark Lacey owns Best Target, Best Group size and Highest Avg Score per shoot.
Some only have 2 more shoots to go to get there minimum 8 scores… they can then start to drop the worst and keep the best.

Good luck to those heading to WA for the SSAA Fly Nationals in July. May the QLD's shoot well 🎯🎯.

For August there is a group of Fly shooters from Brisbane, Springsure, Gladstone and Mackay branches heading north to visit SSAA Innisfail for a day of fun and getting to meet the Innisfail branch Fly Shooters. Looking at the photos and talking to those who have been there. It is an amazing piece of QLD to visit. Do yourself a favour and Google Earth Kurrimine Beach, you will see the Fly Hunting facility sitting just behind the northern end of the coastal town of Kurrimine Beach.

P.S trying a new format for the score sheet, trying to align to the National Score sheet style as best as possible. Hope it works okay.

It has arrived… that time of year has rolled around again! It was only the other day it was December 2023, Yeah?

Anyway, 23 shooters can make the final leader board by achieving 8 Shoots for the year. So not all is set in concrete just yet! Let’s see what December brings, both SSAA Brisbane and SSAA Gladstone have 200yrd Fly shoots on.

A little encouragement for those who did not manage to get 8 shoots done this year. I have included a score sheet below with everyone's averages (2 shoots or more to get an average). So, compare your average you scored against those that qualified into the finals... if you shot your average, for 8 shoots!

Where would of you ended up???

Good luck all!

For a little umm, you know... FUN!!! 😁😁 If my Math is good...
For Mark Lacey to take the top spot of Mitchell Calcutt, Mark must shoot a 277.02 or better... and Mitch must be 11 points behind that score at the end of the night.
For Vincent Vaina to catch Mark Lacey, Vv has to shoot a 283.03 or better... and Mark must be 36.01 points behind that score at the end of the night... Good luck boys.
