@shane-c

I was going to incorporate the Fly Shooter website logo (thanks Matty for providing it) but had a few dramas actually getting the order placed in time, so the next version may include that!

Hi Folks,

We’ve currently got 55 individuals registered for the weekend, with 44 for Rimfire, as we currently only have 20 frames we’re looking at adding an additional frame to help with running just two details on Sunday so we can get people on the road a bit earlier.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi All,

A couple of things for the weekend:

Firstly, the range will be closed to shooting until 1000hrs on Friday, we have an environmental assessment happening that has had to move from Thursday, it will be fine for people to be setting up flags etc, so no great problems.

Secondly, Nightforce have provided the attached list of the scopes which the winner of the scope voucher can choose to apply their 50% off Recommended Retail Price to.

To win the Nightforce scope voucher - shoot either day and hit a Fly. The more Flies you hit, the more tickets you have in the draw for the voucher. You must be present at the draw to win the voucher, if you are not present it will be re-drawn.

We'll publish bench draws on Thursday night, presently 44 individuals for Centrefire and 47 individuals for Rimfire registered.

Cheers,

Dave.

On behalf of all the organisers I would like to thank everyone who attended the 2024 Nightforce ACT Fly Championships.

With 61 individual competitors making up 128 entries it was great to see numbers once again growing, (especially for Rimfire).

A HUGE thank you to Nightforce for sponsoring this event, it is greatly appreciated by all involved. The 50% off voucher that was provided defiantly made everyone even more eager to hit that fly, and gain themselves and entry into the prize draw. Congratulations to Les Fraser who was lucky enough to be drawn as the winner of this voucher.

I can only apologise to everyone for the weather and wind, but it was great to see that this did not dampen the atmosphere at all and the true fly spirit was on display all weekend.

Competition was tight and fierce with 2nd and 3rd place for Rimfire being split by a count back, and 1st place only ahead of them by 1 fly.

A couple of special mentions.

1st to Lawson Starr, once a again it was a junior showing everyone how to shoot with the highest scoring Centrefire target of 57.01 with his Heavy Gun. This a great achievement given there were only 19 targets all day for centrefire to even break the 50 point mark. Lawson also managed to gain his Gold Proficiency Award this weekend scoring a 250.03 with his rimfire.

Light Gun high target went to Andy Santa with a 55.00.

David Dunas shot the smallest centrefire group of 1.522 inches with his Heavy Gun. Well done David, (you had to get up on Kathy somewhere,  but more on that later).

Light gun small group went to Grant Groves with 1.923 inches.

A big congratulations to Dave Groves who was the overall centrefire winner with 236.05. (It has taken Dave many years to finally win an event on his home range at Canberra so this was great to see happen.)

But showing everyone how it should be done, taking out;

Light gun (228.01),

Rimfire (266.06),

Small group Rimfire (1.054),

High Target Rimfire (59.03),

2 Gun Centrefire (447.02),

2 Gun Centrefire / Rimfire (494.07)

3 Gun (713.08),

Yes all of them, and winning a lot of very nice cups and magnets in the process,

was Kathy Dundas. Congratulation Kathy what a weekend.

Please see attached all of the results from the weekend.

Hi Folks,

I echo Fred's comments above, except apologizing for the wind...it could have been so much worse!!

Here are some photographs from the weekend, click on the first and it'll expand to a better size.

Centrefire Competitors Saturday morning, in the cold wind:

Saturday Centrefire Competitors

Rimfire Competitors Sunday morning, I had fewer layers on already at this point, it was much warmer.

Sunday Rimfire Competitors

There were some deep technical discussions regarding the merits of this wind flag before we got going on Sunday:

Technical Discussions

At the end of the weekend, Kathy took a well deserved 5 of the 6 cups on offer, I still challenge her to drink a coffee from each one, each day.

Kathy with her Loot

And Les was the lucky winner of the Lucky Prize Draw, which was drawn "WA Style" - one entry per Fly hit, using another of the features that Fred has built in to our scoring system for us, thanks Fred!

Cheers,

Dave
