RESULTS – 2025 Blue Heeler Classic

Wagga again put on some fantastic weather, as long as you like torrential rain and cold winds!

Friday saw those who arrived early treated to a nice BBQ lunch thanks to Neil.

Saturday was wet and cold. The breakfast was great but our coffee van was a no show once again, so apologies to all for that issue. Luckily we were not lynched for such a transgression.

79 entries started the day with some tricky winds, cold weather and rain. There were some great scores shot during the day. It was great to see some new faces on the firing line and some more junior entries.

The end of Saturday saw the following results

LIGHT GUN

1st                             Glen Aarsen       260.04

2nd                            David Dundas   264.02

JUNIORS

1st                            Eli Groves            229.03

2nd                           Eva Valeri            197.02

3rd                            Eliza Garlick       152.00

It was fantastic to see Tracy and Kiera Deehan both shoot on Saturday. Tracy Presented the Inaugural Perpetual Paul Deehan Blue Heeler Heavy Gun Trophy to Grant Groves. Perhaps it was fitting that Grant was able to equal the Heavy Gun High Target record which is held by the late Paul Deehan. A few of us had some dust in our eyes listening to Tracy’s speech about Paul.

Sunday saw some even yuckier weather and the range was becoming a bit of a bog hole.

The leaderboard was changing after every target. The scorers were able to tell the conditions based on each details targets coming back. At the end of the day we were left with the following results

RIMFIRE

1st                             David Dundas   266.07

2nd                            Kathy Dundas   261.06

3rd                            Vincent V             259.03

High Target                Kathy Dundas   58.02

2nd                           Eva Valerie         228.04

3rd                            Eliza Garlick       198.02

When the final two days results were tallied up;

3 GUN

1st                             Glen Aarsen       776.10

David Dundas took the BLUE HEELER prize of a brand new IBI 28’ stainless steel 6mm 1:8 twist barrel.

Thanks to Warren G from shoot ya load gunsmithing, David Dundas also took home a brick of RWS R50 22LR ammo as the Rimfire Winner.

Kathy Dundas from No Fuss Home Loans donated a piggy bank with $100 cash as a draw for the target crew members, most of whom had grown mouldy feet and gills after changing over 720 targets in pouring rain for two days. Steve C took home the piggy and cash.

JJ Community Care donated an overall trophy and prize of a large YETI tote bag, for highest female shooter over the two days which was taken home by Kathy Dundas.

Two 1kg tins of ADI powder was donated by Riverina Firearms at Griffith which were given to two lucky entrants who had shot both days.

The Volunteers also had two fee $50 vouchers donated by Riverina Firearms.

A small 22LR ammo box was given to Rod Garlick as a Rule 10 award. Rod, on his first fly match, had demonstrated the true ethos of Rule 10 and all that it means to fly matches.

The Club would like to thank everyone for their patronage to the Blue Heeler in some trying conditions and a huge thank you to the volunteers and sponsors that make these events happen.

We look forward to seeing you in the new year for the Riverina Fly Championships 2026 and hopefully we can finally get the coffee sorted!!!

Good luck to all next month at the Fly Nationals in Queensland.
