Front rest advice please - Aussie Benchrest Pro?

Starting out in Fly, using Protektor front and rear bags with a Caldwell front rest - not the benchrest version with windage; one below that.

Chances of upgrading to anything other than the better Caldwell look pretty slim - the better known joy stick types seem virtually non-existent, new or second hand.

Store in Queensland carry the Aussie Benchrest Pro but I don't have the opportunity to have a look at one, living at the opposite end of the country. Anyone have an opinion on these?

Very little as far as reviews, a negative one on the original version but bugga all to be found...

Hey Oldgoat, I have been using an Aussie Benchrest for the last couple of years and it has been very serviceable and reliable. I know of a couple of other Fly shooters who use them too and have been happy with the results. They are heavy which keeps them firmly on the bench.

If you have specific questions, let me know and I’ll do my best to answer them for you.

cheers,

Mark

@mark6bra Thanks very much for that, just the kind of reassurance I was hoping for. Rather spend the money on the right gear now and be set up properly. At 66, I only want to buy once!
